Coca-Cola death: Excess amounts of cola linked to woman's death, coroner says
By QMI Agency

REUTERS/Handout

Drinking up to 10 litres of Coca-Cola a day was a big factor in the death of a young New Zealand woman, a coroner's inquest found.

Natasha Harris, 30, died in 2010 from cardiac arrhythmia (an irregular heartbeat), Fairfax New Zealand News reported.

Harris, a mother of eight, had her teeth removed and one of her children's teeth grew in without enamel due to her habit, the inquest reported.

"I find that when all the available evidence is considered, were it not for the consumption of very large quantities of Coke by Natasha Harris, it is unlikely that she would have died when she died and how she died," coroner David Crerar wrote.

Coco-Cola, however, disagrees.

"The coroner acknowledged that he could not be certain what caused Ms. Harris' heart attack. Therefore we are disappointed that the coroner has chosen to focus on the combination of Ms Harris' excessive consumption of (Coke), together with other health and lifestyle factors, as the probable cause of her death," a spokesman told the inquest.
