SAULT STE- MARIE, Ont. -- Janna Goulay-Pond has a unique canvas for her work.
For the last year, the city artist has been painting her creations on the bellies of mothers-to-be.
Goulay-Pond has owned and operated her part-time business, Perfectly Painted Faces, for the last five years. She's painted countless faces of all ages at festivals, parties and community events.
To hone her craft, Goulay-Pond is often on the Internet reading message boards and forums to learn different techniques from artists around the world.
“About a year ago, many makeup artists began posting photos and talking about painting the bellies of pregnant women,” Goulay-Pond said. "I thought it would be a unique and different canvas to work on."
So far she's painted half-a-dozen baby bumps.
The custom, hand-painted designs offer a mother-to-be the opportunity to celebrate her pregnancy in art.
