ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — A driver’s 38-kilometre wrong-way run down the Queen Elizabeth Way from Hamilton to St. Catharines ended at a spike strip Thursday morning, say Ontario Provincial Police.

OPP Niagara Staff Sgt. Jan Idzenga praised officers for keeping other drivers out of harm’s way.

“That’s the amazing part. Thankfully nothing happened,” he said.

Officers are still trying to figure out why the driver was heading the wrong way. He said the suspect did not appear to be impaired by drugs or alcohol.
