OWEN SOUND, Ont. — A 22-year-old man was arrested stark naked and smelling strongly of alcohol after he swam a lake to avoid arrest, police say.
Ontario Provincial Police officers were called to the scene of a collision near Gould Lake in the Bruce Peninsula, located 200 km northwest of Toronto, at about 5 p.m. on Saturday.
The driver fled the scene and swam across the lake and was found hiding under a dock, police said.
Officers entered the water to arrest the naked man.
The man’s clothing was eventually located and marijuana was found with his clothes, Const. Peter Zehr said.
The 22-year-old has been charged with driving while disqualified, driving while suspended, failing to remain at the scene of a collision, impaired driving, driving a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol and possession of as controlled substance.
