An Indianapolis man wasn't thinking when he stole several jars of brain tissue and sold the matter on eBay.
David Charles, 21, was charged after a San Diego man reported buying six jars of brain tissue for $600 on the consumer website, the Indianapolis Star reported.
Police had been investigating several break-ins and thefts from the storage area at the Indiana Medical History Museum, home of the former Central State Hospital, which housed psychiatric patients from 1848 until 1994.
The Star reported police traced the transactions with the buyer, who also paid a $70 shipping fee, and tracked down Charles.
Cops outsmarted the thief by setting up a sting Dec. 16 in a Dairy Queen parking lot the day after another 60 jars of human tissue were stolen.
Charles is charged with theft and possession of marijuana.
Most of the pilfered material has been returned to the museum.
