Yasmin Nakhuda’s love for Darwin the monkey is wild at heart.

Since the Japanese macaque was found wandering in a shearling coat at a North York Ikea in December 2012 and captured by Toronto Animal Services, eventually being turned over to a Sunderland animal sanctuary, Nakhuda has been fighting for her 'child' to come home.

In October, she filed an appeal in Ontario Superior Court of Justice to get Darwin back.

"He belongs to his mother. He's not a monkey, he's my son," she pleaded to media after Darwin was taken away from her.
