A 10-year-old Norwegian boy stole his parents' car, got caught and pretended to be a dwarf who'd forgotten his driver's licence.

The boy, who lives 110 km outside Oslo, nabbed the car, loaded his 18-month-old sister into it, and set off for his grandparents' house 60 km away, the Independent reports.

But 10 km in, he veered off the road into a ditch. He and his sister were unharmed. A snowplow driver saw him and alerted police.

"The boy told the snowplow driver that he was a dwarf and that he had forgotten his driver's licence at home," Baard Christiansen, a spokesman for the Vest Oppland police district, told the paper.

Cops didn't press charges.

"We have talked to (the parents), and I'm pretty sure they're going to pay very close attention both to their children and to their car keys in the future," Christiansen said.
