An Iowa man was so determined to get his snack, he used a forklift to get the Twix bar loose. He got the chocolate but lost his job.

When Robert McKevitt, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, put his $1 in the vending machine at his warehouse job, the Twix bar got stuck in the machine, the Des Moines Register reported.

He put in another $1 and tried to shake the machine, but neither released his captive snack.

Next, McKevitt used a forklift to lift the vending machine two feet in the air and drop it, the Register reported, citing employment records. It's alleged he did this at least six times. He retrieved three chocolate bars and was fired three days later.

The Twix saga became public in a hearing into whether McKevitt could get unemployment benefits, which a judge ruled he wasn't eligible for.

McKevitt, an Afghanistan veteran, told the Register he didn't lift and drop the machine, but used the forklift to move it back and forth.

"That machine was trouble," he said. "They fired me, and now I hear they have all new vending machines there."
