Facial hair-challenged men who are desperate to perfect the hipster beard are turning to plastic surgeons for transplants.

The growing trend has men paying upwards of $7,000 for the procedure, plastic surgeon Jeffrey Epstein told the website DNAinfo.com.

"Whether you are talking about the Brooklyn hipster or the advertising executive, the look is definitely to have a bit of facial hair," said Epstein, who made headlines in 2012 when he reported an increase in the number of women who wanted eyelash and eyebrow transplants.

When he started doing beard transplants 12 years ago, he did about five or six a year. Now he does three a week.

Florida plastic surgeon Glenn Charles told the website his clients often bring in photos of Ryan Gosling, George Clooney or Brad Pitt to request similar looks.

Charles notes on his website because the donor hair is from the scalp, it tends to grow longer faster, so it takes more work to maintain.
