VANCOUVER -- Yoda said in Star Wars that “once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny,” a warning police are hoping won’t happen arrested a 20-year-old woman for a robbery in which the culprit wore a Darth Vader mask.

Sgt. Randy Fincham said the 23-year-old female victim was walking near Wolfe Avenue near Oak Street when a masked suspect approached her with a fake handgun and demanded money at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

“It wasn't until she saw a firearm pointed at her that she handed over her small amount of money she had,” Fincham said. “And Darth Vader ran off.”

Police are recommending robbery and weapons charges against the Vancouver woman.

The suspect was still wearing her mask when arrested.

“The mask will be seized as evidence,” Fincham said, adding that disguises are not uncommon for thieves. “But when you have a notorious villain mask walking around the street and it's not Halloween, it tends to stick out.”

Sunday saw Star Wars fans around the world don film costumes to mark May 4 under the slogan “May the fourth be with you.”
