'The' is up for sale.

An Australian man is selling the word written on a piece of scrap paper on EBay and someone has bid $10,131 for it.

In his post, the seller "sweatyman" said, "I am selling the word 'The.'

"Handwritten with blue ballpoint pen, on a torn piece of Reflex A4 paper, this versatile word can be used in literally thousands of sentences," he wrote in his post. "Ideal for any situation, this fun-loving item fits perfectly in the palm of your hand, wallet, or purse."

To entice you further to part with your money, Sweatyman says his item "looks great sitting on a MacBook Pro, and emits a mysterious beauty when leaning against sea shells. It's the quintessential addition to any pot plant. And if your piano needs decorating, this word is likely to create a poor-to-mediocre vibe for onlookers, when they see it placed on your instrument."

It didn't take long for a word-selling copycat to surface.

A Canadian is selling the word "to" with a starting bid of 99 cents.

"The highly anticipated and Canadian follow-up to the Australian hit "The" ... this grammatical masterpiece is sure not to disappoint," the description reads.

"Written with a blue Uniball Signo on environmentally conscious Earth Choice paper, this item can be the life of parties, your good luck charm, or the comfort item that gets you through those cold Canadian winter nights. Used in a plethora of sentences...

"Highest bidder will enjoy the prestige of owning a piece of grammatical luxury."

The products are some of many bizarre items being sold on EBay. They include a Large Bird Cage Male Chastity Device, Moonies: The Toy That Moons You!, and Grow Your Own Boyfriend (don't ask).
