A town in Minnesota has voted a dog in as mayor.

Duke, a seven-year-old Great Pyrenees, is now the top dog in Cormorant, Minn., WDAY6 News reports.

Each of the 12 residents paid $1 to cast their vote.

Local Tricia Maloney told the TV station, “He won by a landslide.”

“Poor Richard Sherbrook that owns the Cormorant Store – he didn’t even have half as many votes,” she said.

Duke, who is not a career politician but someone’s pet, got a new outfit and a five-hour grooming makeover, according to the report.

One late-night comedian went so far as to compare Duke with Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.

“The mayor pees in the street & eats out of the garbage. Toronto said "Been there!” Jimmy Fallon tweeted.
