NEW CITY, N.Y. (AP) — A former New York City police officer has admitted he held a suburban school superintendent at gunpoint in June.

Peter Cocker pleaded guilty Tuesday to a felony charge of kidnapping before state Supreme Court Justice Catherine Bartlett in New City.

He faces five years in jail.

Police say the 37-year-old Tappan resident stormed into a middle school on June 9 and threatened to shoot South Orangetown Superintendent Ken Mitchell. Mitchell disarmed him and was not harmed.

Prosecutors say Cocker had a sick child and was upset over the school district’s swine flu policy.
