JetBlue folk hero no longer with airline
By QMI Agency

Not surprisingly, JetBlue confirmed on Saturday that Steven Slater, the flight attendant who quit his job by jumping down a plane's emergency chute, is no longer working for the company.

Slater made headlines in August when a spat with a passenger led him to grab two cans of beer from the plane and trigger the inflatable emergency slide. He then jumped down the slide and drove off in a car parked at New York's JFK Airport terminal. He pled not guilty to felony charges of reckless endangerment and criminal mischief as well as criminal trespass, which could result in a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.

Oddly enough, Slater said that he wanted to continue working for the airline right after he was arrested on Aug. 10. At that time, JetBlue launched an internal investigation and removed Slater from his job, but didn't fire him.
