COPENHAGEN - Danish police have surrounded a man after he tried to blow himself up in a hotel in central Copenhagen, Danish media reported on Friday.
Copenhagen Police spokesman Henrik Moller Jacobsen told TV2 News that police were surrounding a man with minor injuries to his face and arm, lying on the ground in a park near Jorgensens Hotel where there had previously been a small explosion.
The police sealed off several streets around the hotel and the park which are situated near Denmark’s busiest train station, Norrebro station.
News agency Ritzau reported, without identifying its sources, that military personnel were removing a package from around the man’s waist with remote controlled cutting pliers.
Jacobsen said police were searching the hotel for explosives.
There were no other injuries, Danish media reported.
