'American Girl' Bachmann irks Petty

Rocker Tom Petty has demanded Minnesota congresswoman Michele Bachmann stop using his hit American Girl at campaign rallies - because he doesn't agree with her politics.

Republican Bachmann announced her official bid to run against President Barack Obama on Monday, and upset Heartbreakers leader Petty by using his rousing anthem.

The rocker's management team has sent Bachmann's campaign officials a cease and desist letter, asking them to stop using the song as her theme tune.

It's not the first time a politician upset Petty by using one of his songs on the campaign trail - RollingStone.com reveals the rocker had to stop George W. Bush using his solo hit I Won't Back Down at rallies back in 2000.
