Syrian boy tries to rescue wounded woman while under fire: Video

A 17-year-old Syrian boy's bravery is on display in a dramatic video that shows him crawling on the ground to rescue a woman shot by a sniper as bullets fly by.

The clip given to CNN shows the boy slithering across the street toward the motionless woman as guns blast and bullets bounce off the pavement.

A fighter shouts, "Cover him, cover him," while the boy ties a rope to the face-down woman's leg. Her hand also appears to move. The boy quickly runs to get cover and drags her body out of the line of fire as guns continue to blast.

The woman and her son were walking down the street in war-torn Aleppo when she was shot by a sniper, CNN reported.

The boy didn't know the woman, but felt compelled to put his life on the line and rescue her, he later told CNN.

"We had a feeling that she was still alive. We wanted to save her, to get her to a hospital," he said.

The boy, a former bakery worker, said, "I said to myself, 'If I die, it's God's will that I die next to this woman.'"

"I'm not a hero, I'm just like anyone else."

Despite the boy's selfless rescue attempt, the woman died from her injuries.

In the video, the woman's son is seen wailing over his mother's covered body.
