Monopoly to add new cat token
By QMI Agency

(Facebook/HO)

Monopoly will soon add a cat token to its board game.

The public voted on the Monopoly Facebook page to get rid of the iron token and replace it with a cat, the company announced in a video on its Facebook page Wednesday.

Game-maker Hasbro allowed voters to chose between a robot, ring, cat, guitar or helicopter as the new token. The cat won with 31% of the vote.

"We know that cat lovers around the world will be happy to welcome the new cat token into the Monopoly game," Eric

Nyman, senior vice-president of Hasbro Gaming, said in a statement.

Voters also got to choose which classic token they wanted to see removed from the game.

The iron, wheelbarrow and boot were at the bottom of the pack, while the Scottie dog was the most popular.

Hasbro said the cat token will be available in new versions of Monopoly starting in mid-to-late 2013.

Monopoly was released in 1935.
