Former South African leader Nelson Mandela has been released from hospital after he was admitted on Saturday.

The country's former president, 94, sparked further fears for his health after he checked into a facility in Pretoria, just months after undergoing surgery to remove gallstones.

However, Mandela was allowed out of the hospital on Sunday.

A spokesman for President Jacob Zuma states, "Former president Nelson Mandela has... returned to his Johannesburg home following a successful medical examination at a Pretoria hospital. The doctors have completed the tests. He is well and as before, his health remains under the management of the medical team."
