O.J. Simpson’s notorious 1995 murder trial is set to be dramatized for U.S. TV.
The American footballer-turned-actor’s action-packed arrest and subsequent trial for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman captured the attention of the world, and now executives at America’s Fox network have announced plans to transform the case into a small screen series.
The drama will be based on Jeffrey Toobin’s 1997 book The Run of His Life: The People vs. O.J. Simpson, and will focus on the infamous low-speed car chase Simpson led police on throughout Los Angeles, as well as the courtroom drama itself, which ended in his acquittal.
Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, the writing team behind another famed courtroom classic, The People vs. Larry Flynt, will pen the project.
Simpson is currently serving a prison sentence of up to 33 years for kidnapping and armed robbery stemming from a separate case.
