A Michigan father continues to staunchly support gun ownership rights despite the fact his three-year-old son died after accidentally shooting himself in the head Sunday.
"I have nothing wrong with guns it's with (sic) this country was built on. I will still support the Second Amendment," Brian Holbrook, of Dundee, wrote on his Facebook page Monday.
"All I ask is that everyone please, please safety first lock it up and put it out of reach of anyone that has no business being around a gun especially kids."
According to CNN, Holbrook's son Damon found the unsecured gun of family friend Joshua Greenhill, who was living at their home. The .40-calibre pistol was loaded but not locked, inside a closet.
Greenhill has been charged with careless discharge of a firearm, but police are still investigating and may lay a more serious charge, the report said.
"My baby boy is gone & I will never get to hold him again. I will miss him terribly," Holbrook's Facebook message says. "Gun safety people! My boy would still b here if it was put away like it should have been."
