Police in Arizona have charged a father who is suspected of smoking pot and leaving his infant son to die in a blazing hot car.
Daniel Bryant Gray, 31, was arrested Thursday and charged with manslaughter and child abuse, reports the Fox News affiliate in Phoenix.
Three-month-old Jamison Dean died Wednesday after Gray stopped at the sports bar where he works and left the baby in the car for more than an hour. The midday temperature in Phoenix that day was 39 C, the station reports.
Initially the father told police he'd lost track of time, but late Thursday a police spokesman said information had led police to believe Gray was smoking marijuana with a co-worker at the time.
According to a blog post by the baby's aunt, the family is "devastated" and the baby's mother is taking time off work to grieve.
