EDMONTON — A North Carolina man convicted of murdering his Edmonton-born wife will see a new trial.
Brad Cooper, formerly of southern Alberta, was sentenced to life in prison without parole May 5, 2011, in a North Carolina courtroom for the strangulation of his wife, Nancy Cooper.
A man out walking his dog found 34-year-old Nancy's half-naked body in an unfinished housing development in North Carolina July 14, 2008.
She was found just five kilometres from the Coopers' home in the Raleigh suburb of Cary, N.C.
Nancy Cooper was reported missing the afternoon of July 12 by a friend who told police the Coopers were in the middle of a divorce.
Brad remained adamant his wife never returned home from an early morning jog with a friend.
