Looking a bit like Stephen King's Pennywise from It, a creepy clown has descended on Northampton, England.
In an interview with the Northampton Chronicle & Echo, the clown admits how his appearances could be frightening to some people, but he says his intentions are good.
“Most people enjoy being a bit freaked out and then they can laugh about it afterwards,” he said. “It’s like watching a horror movie, when people get scared they usually start laughing. Naturally, some people would have been extremely frightened by what they saw, but I hope many are starting to see it as a bit of harmless fun.”
The clown has been making waves on social media and has even set up a Facebook page to recount his exploits.
"For those of you with phobias and fears," he wrote in a post dated Sept. 13, "you don't have to like and comment on this page. See you around soon."
So far, all he seems to do is smile and wave, but townsfolk are on edge following his mysterious appearances. There have been reports of a clown knocking on doors.
But the Northampton Clown says: "No, I don't have a knife on me! That's just stupid rumours spread by stupid people."
