Authorities in Arizona are investigating after a 911 operator allegedly laughed at a man who called saying his girlfriend was on fire.
Lalo Delgado called for help after his car caught fire in a freak accident, TV station KGUN9 reports.
"My car just kinda caught on fire, my girlfriend caught on fire," Delgado says in the call.
"Is your girlfriend still on fire?" the dispatcher asked.
"No," Delgado said.
"No?" the dispatcher asked, and that's when Delgado said he heard laughter in the background. The woman asked him if his car was still on fire and he told her he heard her laughing.
"OK, sir, it wasn't regarding that, OK?" the dispatcher responded.
Delgado said he called back to ensure the dispatcher had taken his call for help seriously.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department is investigating why the dispatcher was laughing and called it an isolated case.
