An Ohio Walmart is embracing the spirit of the season with its latest charitable initiative: a food drive -- for its own needy employees.

"Please donate food items here so Associates in Need Can Enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner," read signs at the store in Canton, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The donation bins are set up on tables in an employees-only area.

An employee, who asked the paper not to identify her, sent photos of the bins to Organization United for Respect at Walmart (OUR Walmart), which posted them on its Facebook page.

"In Ohio, Walmart put out tubs asking Associates to donate to our coworkers who can't afford a Thanksgiving dinner," the group wrote. "Like this if you think Walmart should pay us enough that we can afford to buy our own Thanksgiving dinners!"

A spokesman for the retail giant told the paper that employees helping employees is "part of the company's culture."

Walmart associates around the U.S. have gone on rotating strikes in recent days, pressing for a minimum salary of $25,000
