A Washington woman who is known for tweeting traffic updates unknowingly live-tweeted her husband's death.

Caran Johnson, who goes by the handle @ScanCouver, was tweeting about a crash near Vancouver, Wash., at 1:41 p.m. Tuesday, but became concerned about her husband because he was late arriving home, KATU reported.

"I'm trying not to panic, but my husband left work early and he drives 205 to get home. He's not answering his phone," she tweeted, asking people on scene for a description of the vehicles involved.

She tweeted she called 911, and was told an officer would call her back.

Then, she wrote, "It's him. He died."

Twitter users from around the world offered their condolences.
