A father and son in Florida drowned on Christmas while testing out new scuba gear they received that morning, foxnews.com reported.
Darrin Spivey and his 15-year-old son Dillon Sanchez went to a popular cave diving location, the Eagles Nest Sink, located in Weeki Wachee on Florida's west coast.
A hunter saw the duo around 11 a.m. preparing for their dive. When the hunter passed by again at about 6 p.m., he noticed their car was still there.
Spivey's fiancee alerted the authorities when the two failed to return home and took a dive when she saw their car by the diving location.
"She wasn't able to find them," Denise Moloney, a Hillsborough Country Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said. "We sent divers down Christmas night, and they found Mr. Sanchez at about 67 feet and Mr. Spivey at 127 feet."
