A Central African Republic man nicknamed Mad Dog told the BBC he ate part of another man because he wanted revenge after Muslims killed his pregnant wife, his sister-in-law and her baby.

Ouandja Magloire told the British broadcaster he was part of a Christian mob that attacked a Muslim in the capital of Bangui because he was angry over the death of his family.

Magloire told the BBC's Paul Wood he saw the Muslim man sitting on a bus, and followed him. As he walked, more people joined him before they stopped the bus and pulled the man off it. That's when the unidentified Muslim man was beaten and set on fire.

The BBC said footage shows Magloire eating the man's leg. It also shows no one tried to stop him.

There were hopes for peace after Michel Djotodia stepped down as president, but inter-religious violence continued after he went into exile on the weekend.
