Harper will support emergency Commons debate on Ukraine

COLOGNE, Germany -- Prime Minister Stephen Harper said he and other Conservative MPs will push for an emergency debate in the House of Commons next week on the rapidly deteriorating situation in Ukraine.

While en route from Amman, Jordan to Ottawa, via a refuelling stop here, Harper summoned reporters to the cabin at the front of RCAF 01 to his say his government will support a motion to be made in the House next week by Conservative MPs James Bezan and Ted Opitz about the deadly clashes last week between the forces of the government of President Viktor Yanukovich and protestors who want to force immediate elections or the dismissal of most of Yanukovich's cabinet.
