A city in India is in a panic after a leopard stalked through a hospital, a movie theatre and an apartment block, injuring at least seven people before eluding captors, according to local media reports.

Schools and shops have been closed, and exams have been postponed in Meerut, the Hindustan Times reports. Patients and staff at the Cantonment Hospital in the city, about 70 km northeast of New Delhi, spotted the animal on Sunday, and someone managed to lock it inside a room. But when wildlife experts tried to capture it, the leopard busted through a window and escaped.

It was later spotted prowling a cinema and an apartment property. CCTV footage showed the animal wandering through a market overnight, but officials have so far been unable to capture it.
