The body of a Michigan woman who likely died in 2008 was discovered this week in the backseat of a Jeep, parked in the garage of her foreclosed home.

Police told the Detroit Free Press the woman had all her bills deducted automatically from her bank account for years. Someone cut the grass at the Pontiac, Mich., home and mail never piled up, so neighbours never suspected anything was amiss — they told police they thought she had moved away.

On Wednesday, a contractor from the bank was sent to check out the home and discovered the woman's mummified remains inside, the Oakland County Sheriff's Department said.

Police said they still need to confirm the woman's identity and the cause of death, although an autopsy showed there was no trauma to the body.

Undersheriff Mike McCabe told the newspaper they believe the woman died in 2008 because that's the year the license plate on the Jeep expired.
