A Virginia Grade 6 student says she faces expulsion under the school's no-weapons policy after she took a razor blade away from a boy who was cutting himself.

Adrionna Harris told 10 WAVY that she took the razor, threw it away, and informed a teacher.

Adrionna was then suspended for 10 days with a recommendation for expulsion, thanks to Bayside Middle School's zero-tolerance weapons policy. She has a hearing this week.

"I felt she did the right thing," her mom Rachael Harris said. "Under the circumstances, she thought he would bleed out, as he was cutting himself, and there was no teacher in sight. It was a 911 situation, and there wasn't time to find a teacher."

The Virginia Beach school's official paperwork on the suspension confirms Adrionna's version of events, according to WAVY 10.
