Male university students in North Korea are reportedly now required to have the same haircut as leader Kim Jong-un.

The mandated trend was to start two-weeks ago in Pyongyang and continue throughout the country, Radio Free Asia reported.

Sources told RFA the decision isn't hugely popular because Jong-un's hairstyle -- closely shaved on the sides but long on the top -- is "particular."

The Korea Times reported Jong-un's haircut was referred to as a "Chinese smugglers haircut" until the mid-2000s.

This haircut decree further limits hairstyle choices for North Koreans, who previously had 18 styles to choose for women, and only 10 styles for men, BBC reports.

There are also conflicting reports stating visitors to Pyongyang didn't notice all university-aged males sporting the same haircut.
