A group of Florida students hoping to catch a few small sharks while night fishing on the beach in Broward County last week instead ended up with a 14-foot hammerhead shark.

"We knew we had a giant fish on, we battled it for about an hour and 30 minutes, and when we saw the massive dorsal fin, we knew we hooked a giant shark," Florida Atlantic University Student Viktor Hlublen told WPTV.

After reeling in the monstrous predator, Hluben and his friends -- some topless, others wearing just shorts and T-shirts -- wrestled it onto the beach, took turns posing with it, then set it free.

They caught the feat on video, which has netted more than 60,000 views on YouTube.

Hlublen estimates the shark weighed about 700 pounds.

"Now I want to go out and catch a bigger shark, maybe a 1,000 pounder next time," he said.
