The world has responded in a huge way to the wish list of a nine-year-old Texas boy who is losing a little more of his eyesight each day.

Harry Potter World, NASA and the Dallas Zoo are just a few of the things Ben Pierce got to see before he goes blind, thanks to help from friends, family and strangers, some of them anonymous.

Born extremely prematurely, Ben not only beat the odds to survive but is healthy and thriving, his mom explained in a blog post. Except for his eyes, which are deteriorating despite stronger and stronger prescription glasses, Heidi Thaden-Pierce said.

Ben has five siblings, so finances for Heidi and husband Kit are tight, but they wanted the boy to have memories of the "wild and wonderful world," the blog says.

After the Dallas family's story spread through social and news media outlets, help came pouring in.

It's not clear how much time he has left, but anyone who wants to help can visit thadenpierce.org.

Some of the items still on the list: the Grand Canyon, a candy factory, New York City and a moose.
