Bryant Collins has had his share of problems in life, but this time he took the opportunity to do good by saving a 15-month-old girl crying alone on the side of a highway in Georgia.
"I've never seen that," the man from Madison County told CNN. "She was there on the edge of the fast lane. I said to myself: "What the hell is she doing? '"
Collins, who was imprisoned for ten years in a penitentiary for making cocaine, was quick to call the police.
All in all, Collins spent two hours with the child. "She started to cry. I turned on my phone and I made her listen to gospel music," recalls the mechanic who’s been sober for five years.
Police arrested the girl’s father, Timothy Pickens, and the mother will also be put under arrest.
Collins has become a hero in his hometown, and he is proud of how he reacted. "It makes me feel good to know that I can be in society and do good," he said.
