AUSTIN, Texas - More than 30 people were injured on Thursday when the ceiling of an apartment crashed down onto about 100 people who had gathered for a religious event at a Houston-area residence, media reports said.
Most of the injuries were minor and occurred when the floor crashed down on people below in Katy, west of Houston. At least one person suffered serious injuries, the Houston Chronicle quoted fire officials as saying.
Fire and police officials were not immediately available for comment.
Photographs taken at the scene showed numerous rescue vehicles and personnel attending to the victims in the residential neighborhood. Some victims were placed onto stretchers for transport to area hospitals.
