Detroit police said Friday they were still trying to determine if there was any wrongdoing in the case of a 12-year-old boy who was missing for 11 days before being found alive and well in his family's basement.

Charlie Bothuell V was reported missing June 14, triggering frantic repeated search efforts. He was discovered Wednesday as police searched for evidence in his disappearance, stumbling across the boy in the basement of the townhome east of Detroit that he shared with his father, stepmother and two younger siblings.

An arrest warrant was issued for the boy's stepmother, Monique Dillard-Bothuell, on Monday for violating probation tied to a weapons conviction, but police would not say if she is under suspicion for the events related to the boy's disappearance.

Earlier this year, Dillard-Bothuell pled guilty in Wayne County, Mich., to purchasing a pistol without a permit and was sentenced to two years probation.

In another development, child protective officials removed two younger children from the Bothuell home on Thursday, according to comments attributed to Detroit Police Sgt. Eren Stephens by the MLive news outlet.

Police would not comment on reports that bloody clothing was found in the home.

Police had searched the home before discovering Charlie and his father, Charlie Bothuell IV, has claimed repeatedly in televised interviews that he also had thoroughly searched. He had no explanation for how his son came to be hidden behind a pile of household items in a portion of the basement.

Police said earlier this week the boy was in seemingly good health and they did not believe he had been in the basement the entire time he was missing.

The father could not be reached for comment and his attorney did not respond to requests for comment on Friday.
